Bored with the Same-Old Speakers? Try These

They’re ”Woofers.” Get it? I’m not sure whether to be amused or disturbed at the idea of having decapitated dogs sitting around around the house.

For more information and another photo of the Woofers, click “more” below:

The Woofer speakers are sold by Sander Mulder:

This is functional kitsch; the wrong becomes the new right. By adding a function to an otherwise grotesque object, it acquires new aesthetic values, becoming an object of desire.

Pun intended, this woofer holds the mids between an addition to your sound system and your loyal 4 footed companion. It’s engineered by a professional audio studio, and sounds remarkably well, compared to your everyday speakersystem! Only available in a co-axial two way speaker system version [two dogs].

What follow-up products could they come up with? A headless cat that acts as a Purrrse? Ideas?

Yeah, I really couldn’t deal with these in my house. The center of the speaker looks WAY too much like a spine.

Um, yeah. I don’t like these at all.

I’m so completely grossed out. My girls would run screaming from those. Yikes!

Well, I have to say I’m glad I wasn’t alone in thinking that these things bordered on the grotesque. The site I found them on had comments like “Too cute!” that made me wonder. Apparently they’re not for everybody. Clever idea, though.

Amy–my 6-yo daughter was horrified when she saw these on my screen! I hope she doesn’t have nightmares… ;-)

Looks a little like the creatures from the video game Half-Life. See a picture here at wikipedia.

Maybe next they’ll cut the head off a bird and insert a “tweeter”. ;)

Yikes, DAK, you’re not kidding. It DOES look like that. Scary.

Love your idea for the Tweeter! Ha.

I Wish I had time to keep up with my own blog like you do. Love it.
