Before & After: A Colorful Kitchen Makeover

A Beautiful Abode has a great interview with Aja, “the Super Shopper” today that I really enjoyed. I checked out the photos Aja has on Flickr of her 1956 brick ranch, and they included this amazing, you-can’t-believe-it-until-you-see-it, kitchen makeover.

Just take a good, hard look at these pictures. Do you see much potential there? I’m afraid I wouldn’t have. But Aja did.

Is she amazing or what? This makes me want to redecorate my entire kitchen with lots of fun color. Suddenly everything around me looks awfully drab.

Hop on over to A Beautiful Abode (a blog I always enjoy) to read the interview and see more photos of Aja’s fabulous home. Or check out Aja’s Home Tour at a Glance.

So many tiny tiles! Those had to be a pain to hang…

I’ve seen much worse kitchens than the “before” but I do so LOVE the “after”.

I *love* this. Like Maya, I’m so in love with Fiestaware. And it looks gorgeous against the white! DAK, just so you don’t go crazy thinking of trying to line up those little tiles, they come attached to big sheets of mesh, so one sheet of mesh, which you apply directly to the grout, might be 8X8. So you don’t have to align each little tile. :)

CindyK, thanks for explaining the tile thing for DAK. Can you imagine if you did have to line up each of those individual little squares? Ha.

That Fiestaware is so fun. Love how she used those colors together.

I would love to know where Aja got the spice rack from? It hangs so well from the rod.
